We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy
Deb and my six dragons :D      :( :love5:

Sandy, the beehive is a round water feature that we came across, took the electric part out and it's been in Didi's tank ever since. I call it a beehive just because! I guess I could call it the meditation mountain

Didi get onto it when he's in a pouting mood or when he's trying to avoid me trying to feed him. Titan just realized he could climb it, and I found him that way.

Thanks for enjoying the pics. Did definitely loves that ramp, it's going to be strange when he gets his tank back, he's been living on it for 2 weeks now. He's only allowed this because it's relatively warm out and he's not getting cold overnight. If it was winter that would be a different story!

Titan licked down the Baytril again this am, but he doesn't look very good afterwards, I'll be glad to give him his Acidophuliz later and food, he seems to feel better then.

Wow Deb you've had a lot going on. I'm so glad you were able to rescue Titan (I love the name 8) ). Love the photos...Titan and his rock pillow, Rubio doing splits in the food bowl (that looks really comfy  ) and Didi and the ramp (mine, mine  ). I'm glad everything is going good with Titan and the rest of the boys (they just love to give us grays don't they :p )

Well I better get back to work (lunch is almost over and my boss keeps trying to hand me work :( ) Hopefully this evening I can get photobucket to let me back in so I can upload and post new pics of my crew (I somehow forgot my password and got myself locked out :? )

Hi Sabrina, thanks for looking in! I'll be checking to see new pics of your crew, never get tired to seeing what they're up to, I know they keep you hopping, too!

I'm glad you're enjoying Titan, he's not eating today but I'm sure it's the Baytril. Just gave him Acidophiluz and a bath and hopefully he'll develop an appetite, left some roaches in his tank for him to munch on if he wants. It's been a long time since I've had a Juvie, more than 5 years! So it's like learning all over again! He is a sweetie, though, and I was able to pick some of the black stuff off on his left side, which showed orange underneath. I'll be glad when the meds are done, though.

I love that Titan pic! It made me giggle :D Titan: "I climbs dis massive mountains and claims it!" All he needs is a tiny explorer's flag! Didi sure has personality. He does look like he's looking at you with caution, thinking about your plot to put him back in the viv! LOL!

I think when Titan is set up in his own tank, Didi will be screaming "NO, NO, NO, I lives on da ramp, what you doing, I don't want no tank, NO, NO, NO" I can see it now.

Well Titan didn't eat anything today, I'm sure because of the Baytril, so tomorrow am he's on babyfood as he's lost a lot of weight. He was 236 when I got him on April 6, then he was 264 on April 15, then he didn't eat at all last week and was 230g at the vet, so he's lost a lot of weight. He ate a bunch on Saturday, but didn't eat anything but a few collard greens and a few pieces of squash on Sunday and nothing today. So luckily I have lots of babyfood in stock and Carnivore Care, so that's what he'll be fed tomorrow am. I've got roaches in his tank, which he normally would scarf, but didn't even show an interest today, poor baby. At least when all is done, I'll get him back on a good diet again. He'll be on Baytril until April 30, then he's on Panacur, but don't have the schedule yet. I've always found that Panacur is easier on their tummies. At least I got my order of Acidophuliz on time, so he's been getting that plus Electrolytes 2 hours after the meds. Poor baby, we had over an hour snuggle tonight, as I was home with a sore ankle again. Gabriel had to be snuggled at the same time, as he actually black bearded when he saw Titan on my shoulder and I didn't get him out at the same time  First black beard I've ever seen on Gabriel since I got a him a year ago

So I finally get the bone scan results tomorrow, so will at least know what the damage is all about. It was fine all weekend, then just below the right ankle bone started to burn last night, even with ice it kept me up all night, so was dragged, plus couldn't walk well today. But it's ok now after having it up all day, but I can't keep doing that, I need to be at work full-time, can't afford to live on 25% less salary. At least I'll have a better idea tomorrow.

Good luck with your ankle!

I picture you pulling Didi by his back end while he claws at the ramp as you drag him off

And this is how I found Rubio this am when I lifted off his blankie; he loves his food dish to sleep in:

LOL this is so cute! Spike was doing the splits yesterday and my sister took a pic of it and called it "bearded dragon yoga!"

Thanks Liz, I'll know later today what's up with that darned ankle.

And yes, Rubio is the Yoga master! He's always spreading out & he has a "Y" resin thing at the end of his tank that he likes to climb onto and then he really looks like he's doing Yoga. A friend of mine called it the beardie Thigh Master!

So here's his standing position:

Hi wiggly snake position:

His hold with one foot position:

His escape position:

His climbing position:

His other snake position:

His plane position:

Reverse thigh master position:

And his thigh master position:

I don't put a lot of pics of Rubio, these are by far the funniest!

Titan licked up his Baytril again this am and is now sporting a black beard, so now it's time for baths and eating for Titan. Hope he feels better after getting some food in his belly.

I'm glad you enjoyed Rubio's pictures, he's a funny guy! He's on my shoulder right now, he was burrowing under his plastic leaf thingy that he had as a baby (what they like to hide in) and was really cold, so he's snuggled on my shoulder, all 2 lbs of him (heavy!) When he's feeling really well, he's a pistol, all over the place and he really loves to be on the balcony in the summertime. I have to get him out more often, I've just been concentrating more on Titan than the others, not neglecting, but not giving them fair outside time, either. Oh well, tomorrow I'll let Rubio out after Lonzo b4 work. That will give me time to feed Titan.

And speaking about feeding Titan, he ate almost 4 tsp of babyfood, 2 each of chicken w/vet & squash with Carnivore Care. His poop this am was still stinky, but not as bad as previously. And no more ammonia smell, either. So looks like the Baytril is working.

And I had my apt with my doc and there seems to be what might be permanent damage. The MRI is Sept will show more. Here's what the scan said:
"On the immediate blood pool images, there is a marked hyperemia diffusing the left ankle region, more so medially. On the delayed images, there is marked diffuse increased uptake in the left ankle joint, slightly more focal in the talar dome regionleterally, but detail obscured due to the diffuse increased uptake & resolution is limited.

No significant focal increased uptake on the left lateral malleolus.

No evidence of left lateral malleolar fracture.

Marked increased uptake diffusely in the left ankle consistant with post-traumatic arthropathy/ligamenteous injury. A super imposed osteachondrial lesion involving the tular dome cannot be excluded. If pain persists, a CT or MRI is recommended."

So until September there isn't much I can do but not put pressure on it, take ibuprofen when it's too sore. That's it. My doc was pleased to hear I was training again, as that will help a lot with weight loss and keeping my muscles in shape.

So I'm off to feed Titan again. I don't think he ate any roaches, so I'm going to put those back. Hopefully when he's done with Baytril, he'll get his appetite back.

Good luck with Titan. He's just having a couple of off days maybe.

I couldn't understand a word of the medical mumbo jumbo the doctor was quoted saying, but the gist is that it sucks. I hope your ankle feels better and September is a long way aways. :?

Hi Liz, I think for Titan it's the Baytril, it's very harsh on the system of a beardie and you have to keep them extra hydrated because it can cause issues with kidneys. So I'm glad he's only on it until Apr 30. Until then, he'll get babyfood and I'll still offer him bugs and salad. So far, bugs and salad are a no-go and of course I bought crickets for him, but my geckos will eat them, so they won't go to waste.

As for my ankle, what it means is the ligaments over the top of the ankle from left to right have been damaged and it might be permanent. There are so many small bones, tendons, ligaments in the ankle, it's easy to cause serious damage. That's also why it hurts all the time. Oh well, hopefully by the time I get the MRI I'll have healed up some!

Gus - he’s a rescue!
How much water should I be giving my bearded dragon? He will only drink from a dropper when I drop on his nose and I’m not sure if I should give it to him until he won’t drink anymore? Or should I stop after he’s had a certain amount?
