- Beardie name(s)
- Foxy
Please help me understand the problem with nasal discharge.
Foxy was in brumation for a couple of months. I think it was semi-brumation, because he did not sleep deeply, but was just in his cave and during the day he dozed a little and watched us from his shelter for a while.
His heat light was on from 8am to 4pm, and the UVB from 9am to 2pm.
Nighttime temperatures never dropped below 72 degrees.
Humidity fluctuates between 20 and 35 percent (nighttime - 20, daytime - 35)
In 2 brumation months, Foxy almost did not lose weight (from 540 grams, his weight decreased to 530).
In the last week of brumation, when I weighed him, I noticed small clear bubbles in the lower part of his nostrils (both nostrils, right and left). They were small and I thought that they could be the remains of the water he drank. The next day they were gone, but a day later they appeared again. Sometimes they thickened and looked a little yellowish, but it was all in the lower part of the nostril and did not interfere with his breathing.
At the same time, he began to wake up and in the morning comes to warm up under the heating lamp. I increased the daylight hours and now it is 12 hours of heating light (from 8am to 8pm) and 8 hours of UVB (from 9am to 5pm). After I noticed that there was discharge from the nose, I began to turn on Arkadia DHP at night to maintain the temperature at least 80 degrees and now in the morning he only has a small crust on the nostril on the right (the left nostril looks normal and there has been no discharge for 3 days).
His breathing is even, I do not hear any coughing, clicking or whistling.
Tell me, is a visit to the vet required? It's very cold here right now and I wouldn't want to put him through any extra stress unless it's absolutely necessary.
