My boy Leo’s nails have grown long and sharp! He actually broke the skin last time he scratched me (don’t worry, I’m fine) so I think it is high time for a trim. I have one problem;
He won’t stop moving, or squirming, or struggling to get out of my grip. I’ve tried in the past but he was moving so fast I accidentally cut too far up and he bled
I’m considering doing it when he’s tired, such as after the lights go off. That is when I usually take my measurements in terms of length due to the same issue he is posing now
He has hides that he (supposedly) should be filing down his nails but it appears that isn’t working, I’ve heard people putting bricks in the enclosure but all of my bricks are dirty
Should I go buy a new one from a hardware store or something? I don’t know where I’d put it, the enclosure is pretty much filled to the maximum right now.
I am using dog nail clippers which, sure, are a bit bulky compared to him but they work! And nowhere near me sells nail clippers for small animals (kinda strange).
we always wait until sir henry is dead to the world asleep and then use regular clippers to get just the pointy tips. no need to go up further than that. should be plenty of videos on youtube for examples if you need a visual.

I use regular nail clippers also.
I usually keep a piece of sandstone in my habitats. The trick is to place where they will move across it. I've got to put a piece back Zens. I took it out
when i remodeled his, and now his are getting sharp. I haven't had to trim nails in months and months, so the sandstone was working.
I would recommend using regular sized nail clippers or baby nail clippers if you don't have they can run across. Mine has a few rocks where she can file her nail
