move the beetles to a different container and let the worms live in that container?
Yes.I have 1 beetle container, well sort of 2, 1 for now and 1 for later. After about 3 weeks I remove all the beetles to a fresh container and dump all the substrate from the one I just took them out of into my worm bin. Then I put new substrate into that bin, ready for the next time.

So give the beetles 3 weeks to mate.... then take them and put them in a new container, remove the dead ones..... and then put the oatmeal substrate from the container that had the beetles in it into the container with worms...

The big worms I already have in the worm container wont eat the eggs or baby worms?

That I don't know. I keep all my babies together. I pick out grown ones and put in another container. I didn't do anything special with the eggs, I don't know what you could do as I can't see them. You'll figure out what is best for you as you go along. I may be wrong but I think the baby worms are more cannibalistic than the grown ones. I don't worry about the babies much. Removing the beetles is for their protection as the babies love to eat mom and pop.

Thanks Chris!
I love it I'm so excited one less type of feeder to buy.

HEY! :blob8: :blob8:

The little boogers take long enough I was just about to get discouraged when I noticed the microscopic little worms this evening. :D

barbara, how long did it take for you to notice the little worms? i removed my beetles after two weeks of them being beetles. now, it's been one week of looking at a tub of oatmeal which, hopefully, has baby worms developing in it. diane

Nice to see this topic back up at the top, I just bought 500 supers last night and am' planning on breeding them. I just need to go buy some stuff now like bead bins and stuff to store pupae.

I noticed in your first picture that there isn't much ventilation getting in the bins, don't these need ventilation?

It took about 3 weeks to a month after I removed the beetles before I noticed the microscopic worms. I have obsessed on them I was really about ready to through in the towel when I noticed them last night. I have to laugh at how happy and excited I got when I seen them. Mind you I had to use a magnifying glass to see them, but they are there. :blob8: :blob8: They are very hard to see in the meal substrate without a magnifying glass.

More free food and fishing bait hey!
Now I won't feel guilty anymore for stealing my beardies food for bait.

The bins/ plastic drawers that Chris has actually get more ventilation than you'd think. I personally just used several dollar store plastic tubs but will work the same. :)

I went out today and bought some stuff after viewing this thread.

I bought one of those little beat storage kits for $1 at the dollar store. It has 15 slots, and I drilled 3 holes into each slot for air. I think i'll go back and get a 2nd bead kid for another $1 so I can have 30 slots filled at once. I put 1 worm in each of them. I placed it on top of my hard drive for now because its warm and dark. 8)

I also bought that same storage unit.

oh no... wait, someone please clarify this for me...

if i buy the 25 count cups of them at petsmart are you telling me that eventually the superworms are going to turn into beetles inside those little cups?

i just bought 17 cups thinking that id just stock up.. but now will they turn into beetles?

or is it only when you leave 1 worm without any food etc...

because the ones in the cups come with food already. so instead of morphing will they just die?

Good possiblity that it will just die instead of morphing!

I had to seperate the worms into indiviual containers without any substrate or food inorder to stress the super out so it will morph.

i hope that doesn't happen :silent:  :? :? :? :?

In my first attempt I used film canisters with a hole in the top, the worms started chewing at the hole and some got out! I dont put holes in them anymore and i get roughly 75% morphs

Swordtail has been doing a whole lot of "Lizard yoga" lately
Currently trying not to stress over my anemic dragon....she is being treated, but I don't agree with her treatment plan and have been seeking out a second opinion from another vet. If anyone else has dealt with anemia, please let me know how it was resolved. I am losing sleep over this
Another post lol. My beardie does not like enclosures. Her tank is the kids room and she has created a nesting/bed spot in the corner. She will cuddle with my son but she know when the lights are out and the kids go to sleep, she literally goes to her bed like she is our 3rd baby. I love her. And to think, I never wanted a beardie lol
Please help. My beardie is my baby and I am worried she may be egg bound but I can't tell. She is over 2 yrs old and has never laid an egg. She has been swollen for two days and can't tell if she may be impacted or egg bound. Please help.
I'm still looking to adopt. I live near Homerville Georgia.
