Hi, am totally new to this website and am hoping someone mightbe able to help me with my problem. Here goes! I have 2 & a half female bearded dragon who is otherwise an active and very cheeky bearded dragon. However, she is the standard colour of olivey/brown but seems to have this really vivid orange pigment that keeps popping up and some in a matter of weeks. Has anyone else had this problem with their beardie? I found, on the largest part of these orange marks that one has become lumpy. I took her to the vet and she said she has never seen this problem before but it shouldn't be a worry as the lump was just the scales and not attached to her skin. I'm at my wits end with worry and really would appreciate some advice.
I will photograph and post in the morning. I did take her to the vet's and they didn't seem to concerned as the lump didn't seem attached to her skin and was just the scales.
the basic info is, you need a photobucket acct. Load your pics to photobucket. Photobucket will assign an img code to the picture. Copy that code and paste it in your thread here.
More detailed explanation is in the photo expressions forum at the top of the forum there.
Wow, I have never seen anything like that before. Not sure if it is some type of fungus or something. Hopefully a moderator or someone may have a better idea of what it may be.
What is a moderator? Sorry for my ignorance. When I took her to the vet she was totally preplexed and had never seen anything like this before. She has the same colouration dotted about her body in various places too but without the lump. She's eating her bugs like a wild woman but hasn't touched her salad in over two months
Hi
Not a dumb question.A moderator is someone who monitors the forum and make sure everyone is acting according to the website policy. We also move things from one place to another and edit things when needed or assign warnings or bans when people start misusing the forum.Basically we are just here to help keep things in order and help where we can.
As for your little guys issue, honestly I have never seen anything with that specific coloration before however it does appear to me to be some type of fungus possibly.I would start a fungal treatment and see if it helps. If it doesnt you should have a herp vet remove a piece of the scale and do a biopsy to see if the can figure out what is going on.These are the the things you will need to get to treat it as if it were fungal:Witch hazel, betadine and lamisil creme. All of these are human meds therefore they can be found in the pharmacy. You want to clean the area with the witch hazel first then soak your beardie in a bath of water and betadine for 20 minutes, now the water should look like a weak tea thats how you know how much betadine is enough. After the bath apply the lamisil creme directly to to the affected areas. When you bathe your beardie be sure to start with just water in case they want to drink, then add the betadine.I hope it helps.Good Luck and keep us posted.
