I have a 1 and a half year old male who is healthy other than his poor limb. He wont put weight on it but it doesn't appear to be bruised or swollen. He has been fine other than today. Nothing happened to my knowledge that could have caused this. He did have a fall about a month ago but would he seriously hurt this long after? Other than that I don't understand how he could have gotten injured. He is my first beardie. I really love him. I have done all my research and have set my cage up accordingly. It is his front left. He remains active but won't eat.
Ok, so your dragon fell a month or so ago? How far did he fall?
Actually it is normal for an injury of this type to take awhile to set in if it is a soft tissue injury. You mentioned that there is not any swelling that you can tell right now?
I would recommend either taking him to the vet for an MRI because that will detect soft tissue injuries. An x-ray would detect a broken bone but he most likely does not have a broken bone. If you suspect a broken bone, by all means get an x-ray.
Do you have a good UVB light & do you supplement calcium too?
You can also purchase dried silkworm enzyme called Serrapeptase. You can buy it from: http://www.serrapeptase.org
It helps with soft tissue injuries & inflammation around the joints from injuries & or arthritis.
In the meantime, take his basking site down lower so that he doesn't have to climb too much & injure himself even more. That also means that you will need to lower his basking light as well so his temps will stay correct too.
