hi i thought that this was kind of cute and never really expected it from my husband , he is a big animal person and is a big softie when it comes to them though he won't admit it , still has a marine attitude and the middle of 9 and well while he has been up and down and back and forth to doctors with his back and lay offs . will be so glad to see the end of 08 and the better start to 09 hopefully , he has gotten even more used to the day in a life of beardies . yep he is starting to become a believer in the world of beardie slavedom . he made sure that they had thier lights on and if it seemed like it was taking baby irwin to long to crawl out from under the blanket he would go and loosen it a bit and check on him , see the little eye peeping at him like dad i'm sleeping here and cover him back over . with money being tight with everything made sure that we had at least a bunch of greens and a couple jars of baby food to have on hand for the lean times . i would mix some chicken baby food in with the greens for the protien when live couldn't be bought , but the best one is for me that when we left to go to my dads on Christmas eve for the day he lit a fire in our wood burning stove to keep the tmeps up while we were gone , and on the mornings in the mornings while i was getting ready for the critters breakfast i would ask him if he wanted his or feed the beardies first and he would say feed the masters . gotta love it , i think we got him trained . , oh and baths , it was funny too , whats the temp, don't you think thats to deep ??? and their tank temps .sorry so long it is just so funny to me that he got that way with them . don't even want to get started on how he was about my son's ball python ,
CoopersGrandma,
I can totally relate!!!! I have a big burly hubby and although not in the military he just isn't a dog or cat fan. I always cleaned up after the dogs and cats we've had,he would barely take them outside(usually only if I was sick or something) When HE volunteered us to look after our friends animals while they were on vacation guess who fed them, cleaned up and tool them outside? ME of course. Now let me say this. About a year ago our son was wanting a pet but my hubby (and mee as well) vetoed any cas dogs etc...(this is explained in another thread about what a time we had with our last dog and cat, wizbe needing everyones help) I was tired of cleaning up etc... Anyway we were visiting a friends shop(he does animal rescues) and my hubby spotted his beardie. He asked me what I thought and I said he was adorable. I researched for almost a year and now we have a beardie and a gecko.
If I call him at work he asks about our son and then wants to know how the reptiles are(asking about them by name,if they have eaten, have they pooped, are they ok. when I bathe our beardie and he is at home he wants to make sure the water is warm enough, not too deep, can she climb out,etc... And he cuddles her to sleep.
oh that is so funny , we have the dogs and cats but the beardies i guess have won him over . i to am the main care taker for the zoo and can relate to you about that for sure .
It's only fair if they become addicted to our little buddies as well, that way the little critters have extra love anyway(if not help.) My hubby will feed our 2 or at least turn on lights.
