I have had my baby since she was a newborn and she is now five years old. She hates eating any thing green and I know that is something she should be doing! She loves blueberries, wax worms, crickets and what ever else is not green and good for a bearded dragon to eat - lol. She went to the vet recently and he said she was very healthy. So my question, how vital is the veggies for her? and how can I get her interested? thank you =)
At five years old it may be difficult to break old habits, but they really should be primarily vegetarian as adults. The waxworms are pretty high and fat so they should definitely be limited to occasional treats. Crickets are OK for protein staple (~20% of the diet) and the blueberries are OK as an occasional garnish for a salad (part of a balanced salad). If she is a healthy weight it may work to give her some tough love and give her a week with only fresh salads available and see if she gives in and goes for the salad. I'd provide some variety to get her interest. Maybe 3-4 items per salad and rotate it around to see what she likes. I'd reference the BeautifuDragons nutrition list for some ideas for salads. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html
