So I separated all my adults into a new tub to start a second colony. And I weeded out the males to a 1:5 ratio to females. I did this last Friday but they have not touched their chow or water crystals. I even threw shredded carrots in there that they love and they are still there just all dried up. Did I do something wrong?
I've had this problem before too, accept with lobsters. However they started eating again in a few days. Maybe they get relocation stress? Who knows. Just give em a few days and they'll most likely start eating again. If you don't NOTICE any food gone I recommend completely removig their food and water for a few days(no more than 3) then replacing it, they should completey ravage it; the problem may be that you just aren't noticing anything being eaten. Perhaps their reaching the end of their cycle and in turn aren't eating as much
The temps are right. I'm going to say that they're gonna come around quickly. When I separate my adults it takes about 1-2 weeks for them to fully come around and start demolishing their food. Just be patient. When they are hungry, they are going to eat... A LOT!
