hi there. So my bearded dragon, Nugget, is just over a year old right now. Her care is correct, from what I have researched here. But she stopped growing at about 9 inches, months ago. Then suddenly, about three months she started up again. And fast. 3 inches in 3 months. I knew she was small before so I am happy she's growing again, but I am wondering if anyone knows why she could have done that? I didnt change anything when she started again, I have since changed her uvb bulb, but I didn't do so until after. Any info is appreciated! Thanks
At the 7-month mark, he had stopped growing length wise for what seemed like forever (measured in at 15.5 inches, 6.5 in head to vent and 9 in vent to tip of tail), and I stopped measuring him for a few months because it was always the same. Then in August, 4 months and 5 days later, he measured in at 19 inches (8.5 in head to vent, 10.5 in vent to tip of tail). He also went from 177 grams to 451 grams during that time.
It is ok for juvies to have sudden growth spurts like this. It's when they stop growing for a long period of time is when we should worry.
Spike hit 15 inches by 3 months.. she grew crazy fast, but she has not grown in length in a month. I hope it doesn't continue too long.. but its good to know that random growth is common.
