Hi my Bearded Dragon is just over 2months old got her at 2months old – I have an almost 2meter in length tank filled with fine sands I got from the pet shop 75w Basking light and the Red lights which I put on at night and I put the basking light off at night I also leave Her heated mat on. I have water for her and she ate like crazy every time you give her n cricket…
But then she started getting spasms after 2weeks and no Pooh I was told to put her into warm water for a while and Rub her tummy this worked and she pood – But it started again the twitches she won’t eat . The she moved around all her Legs pulled back it looked like she was dying its looked like she was suffering – I picked her up and she started walking
Again she still has switches I won’t eat and I do fee her calcium
best chance is ALLWAYS the vet if it's urgent! Most obvious possibility is a serious impaction from the sand. Since its pet-store sand, it's probably calcium based. This is NOT digestible and poses serious risks to your beardies health.
I hope she gets better, but I can't really give you any other advice since I'm not that experienced with beardies...
Ditch the sand now. Your beardie sounds impacted. Keep up the soaks feed the little pooper some apple sauce with a little olive oil in it and that will help clear him out. But if this is a repeat situation I second the vet. Did I mention REMOVE THE SAND?
NEVER EVER keep any sort of reptile on sand...EVER...risk impaction and that means death to your little fella... if you MUST have sand for some reason...wait till its at LEAST a year old before putting it in there...i made that mistake for my very first leopard gecko and im still sad:*(
*it will eat the sand along with whatever else its trying to eat...and they cant digest sand so it will stay in their intestines and cause them not to be able to pass anything so they will stop eating...and become tired and just waste away*
