Hello, my brothers bearded dragon has the start of tail rot (if that makes sense). We have seen different videos on tail rot and we saw one that seemed helpful (I'll put the link at the bottom). But I want to see what other people suggest. This is really important. Please someone get back to me as soon as possible. (If the treatment on the video doesn't work for about 2 weeks, we are going to send him to the vet).
Are you sure its tail rot? Can you post pics of it please? https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ click on XIMG at top of message box
Here is some info on tail rot-
Causes of tail rot are:
1. Injuries/trauma - caused by falls, or by any other bearded dragon.
2. Malnourished - make sure he has a balanced diet and he gets the nourishment he needs
How to identify tail rot:
1. Dried out - Decaying tail won't be able to retain moisture, check if it's dried out completely.
2. Very thin, brittle - Decaying tail won't be able to process nourishment, causing it to become more thin and brittle.
What to do after finding out it has a tail rot:
1. Go to a vet - very recommended

Hi Icey, as Karrie mentioned , it would be best to post pics of the tail. Post pics while the tail is dry, not wet. Many times an owner thinks a dark tail is tail rot when it's actually natural color. At least one pic in the youtube video does not appear to be tail rot [ the second one in succession I believe ] so it's good to ask here. Your beardie will prob. be fine though, even if he needs attention it's usually pretty easy to deal with.
