For the last couple months my 5 year old male beardie has taken an unusual interest in my foot. When I'd let him out to roam around he'd go straight for my foot and lick it and bob his head at it, especially if I was wearing white socks. Lately he's been more aggressive with it and turns his beard black and would actually bite the sock and pull at it like it's a big piece of food. Today I let him out and left the room and when I came back he was straddling a sock I left on the floor with his beard pitch black and had ejaculated on the sock! Has anyone else seen anything like this or is my beardie just a kinky freak?
Don't know about beardies doing that...but my grey faced Cocktail used to do that too...maybe not the mounting stuff...but he would go for my husbands Gold Toe Black Socks and sing his little heart out to it. So I'm sure your beardie is just confusing your sock for something better. Reminds me of that old cartoon of the male skunk who is smitten by a black female cat who had a white stripe painted on her back mistaken her for a female skunk!
He does it to my bare feet too. He must think it's another beardie since it's flat and roughly the same size and I think he might mistake my foot tapping as another beardie bobbing or waving.
Well you must be incredibly honored that your feet and socks are so incredibly appealing  I've seen bearded dragons try to mate with socks, dog toys, or anything that may somehow resemble another dragon. Nothing too out of the ordinary!
I had to remove 2 stuffed beardies out of my two's tanks as they would try to get overly friendly with the stuffed toys. Beardies are coming out of brumation and spring for some is in the air and they can I suppose get feisty with anything resembling to them another beardie. I am sorry but find it humerous about your foot and sock  I would stop tapping your foot in front of your beardie also lol, it may resemble a female bobbing her head for attention.
The day before Valentines Day, I had my male out and he was running around the floor. I was wearing my heavy duty socks which have a peppered pattern of white and brown ticks... basically it's pretty close to a beardies colors. At one point I had pushed my foot so that it was resting close to him and he wasn't paying much attention. All of a sudden he whips around, seizes my sock in his mouth, and occasionally shakes his head back and forth like a dog would a toy. He's not on top of my foot, so I thought maybe he mistook my foot for a rival... that was until... well behold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xIn1N_jTdY
I wasn't sure if I should count myself as special or just violated.
It's interesting your beardie went after a pure white sock. I would think the color would be a cue that it isn't a reptile but maybe they go by shape instead? That or they really are colossal horndogs.
Oh my goodness! I needed a good laugh. I have a "hatchling" (Ember is 4 1/2in long) and a 4 month old male beardie. Is this what I should be prepared for? The video was priceless!
