Well, I haven't allowed her to, but she swallowed a pea-sized piece of gravel yesterday. I take her outside whenever it is nice out, and she keeps going after rocks. She grabbed a sugar-cube sized rock the other day, but it was too large to swallow, and I got it from her. Today she seems fine and ate a bunch of butter worms, but I am concerned about that piece of gravel inside her. She would have grabbed another one if I would have let her. Will she be ok?
Just wait a couplem more days, if the poop and eating fine you should be ok.
i would consider this getting checked out though, that gravel carnt stay there!
Just watch and make sure she is going poo ok, if she stops or is straining badly then get her to a vet. If she is a adult, a pea sized piece should pass ok and from now on, keep her away from gravel. It seems like once they start, they never stop trying to eat it.
I couldn't let me last dragon run loose anywhere, he constantly tried to eat the carpet fibers and even went after any little pieces of dried mud that fell off hubbies work boots.
Thanks for the replies. She is a 16" long nearly 6 year old female. It has been about 24hrs since she swallowed it. I will definitely keep her away from rocks she can possibly swallow. Hopefully she passes it ok, we are 70 miles away from the nearest vet that will deal with reptiles.
Just thought I would let you all know, she passed the rock yesterday so did not have to take her 70 miles to a vet. She carried it for about a week with absolutely no ill effects. She's still running around and is her normal self. Thanks to those who responded.
