Sorry to bother everyone, but I have noticed that my beardie Falkor has always had a problem of eating her food (live feeders) very fast. I was feeding crickets and phonix worms and never noticed it as bad... until she started getting larger and I decieded to give her superworms and wax worms occassionally- now more than ever I notice she can eat 12 of them in 3-4 bites... Gone in 4 seconds. She has no problem eating salad either (which I'm extremely happy about, she eats 1-2 full salads per day) - but when she poops I notice all of her live feeders are still whole (as she may only chomp down once before swallowing them (I have noticed this and think, OMG... she's such a piggy). Now I'm getting concerned that she may not be getting any nutrition from her food (I do use vitamin supliment 2 times a week and calcium 3-4 times a week on the live feeders), but I'm just concerned. Any suggestions on how to get her to SLOW down w/ the eating, so she can digest better? And for anyone w/ questions- I do provide UVB- I NEVER let her go to bed (lights out) until she has waited atleast 3 hrs under the bulb. It's a Reptisun 10.0 tube, for anyone wondering. Her tems on the basking side are anywhere from 99-105, and her cool side is around 87-93. I use a digital probe for the readings.
Any advice or concerns would be greatly appriciated. Thank you! :?:
Try feeding her worms one at a time. Basti will gobble a whole mouthful too if I let him, Now I toss him 1-2 at a time and he seems to chew them better.
Thanks Gail... I'll try that. But, did your beardie poop them out whole too? That's what's freaking me out the most. They look just like they did going in (if you know what I mean).
No, he never pooped any out whole, not even when he wasn't chewing. A couple times they were only partial digested but I think that was from him eating too late in the day.
