So I just got my bearded dragon 5 days ago from a family member who did have time for him anymore. He wasn't taken care of very well and only God knows how long he went without heat. But I've noticed he has been sleeping...A LOT, when ever he is in his tank he is most likely sleeping, I don't know if he is having some stress? But I just want to make sure he is okay.
What UV source (EXACTLY = brand, wattage, type (compact, T8, T5, MVB ? and UVB rating in %UVB) ?
is there a reflector behind the globe or tube ?
is there a plastic screen covering the tube ?
Where is the UV source (is on ontop a screen top ? how far from beardie's basking spot is it ?
Feeding schedule (when each day and what ?)
What has the local weather been like ? (in very dismal overcast and wet weather my beardies will hunker down and be very lazy and have long naps during the day, as will my skinks.)
He's about 5, the weather has been rain, rain, rain, all spring.
those are his lights he gets 12 hours day 12 hours night. I'm working on getting him a tube instead of a bulb. He was very unexpected so right now he doesn't have anything special, but I intend to get him better lights soon.
Also are those marks from stress??
And by the way no that is not blood on his belly, there are very faint mark of colour, I'm not sure from what it was probably from his food.
The basking light is fine but the UVB light isn't strong enough. I suggest replacing it at least with the 26w version of that bulb and it should sit 6-8'' above the basking area for best results. The dark marks on his belly are just dark scales and nothing to worry about.
I don't think its the same watt, because I think it's just the bulb I'm unsure of the brand, but will take that into consideration to dig deeper into the brand.

Shop brand versions of these are not nearly as good, as most rebranded homebrand/shop branded compacts are Chinese clones of the better higher quality brands , they are essentially rubbish.
I use 26W UVB200s for all my beardies and they are very good source of UVA and UVB and very high quality....so worth paying a few extra dollars each to get.
He's about 5, the weather has been rain, rain, rain, all spring.<<<< there is your likely cause ..... he can tell it's nasty outside so he just hunkering down til the nice weather returns .... mine all the same.
those are his lights he gets 12 hours day 12 hours night.<<< 12 hour is too short , and will trick him into thinking winter is near.... I'd bump that up by 2 or 3 hours per day I'm working on getting him a tube instead of a bulb.
