I will try and keep this short!
Last wed I fed my baby bearded dragon superworms ( I dont know how old she is but she is about 8 inches long). I have learnt this was a very bad idea!
On thursday she threw up the superworms and didnt eat
Friday she ate a few crickets
Saturday nothing
Sunday finally pooped! Very happy about that
Monday - Thursday - Started eating an increasing amount of collard greens and that is it! No cricekts no other vegies
Anything I can do to encourage her to eat? I try to dust her salad but then she doesnt want it.
Also, I have read that squash is an excellent staple food for Beardies. I have a pepper squash can I feed her this?
as some dragons get older they begin to prefer their salads over their live prey....it is odd that she wont eat any crickets. Squash is an excellent choice just make sue the like it because Spiff hates his squash and alfalfa lol I would try feeding her more live feeders and at least get her to eat some... but she may just prefer the greens now
How old is your beardie? As adults they tend to eat about 70% greens/veggies/fruits and 30% live feeders. Try some other live insects if you feel she is not getting enough protein. Phoenix worms and silkworms are easily digested. There are also waxworms, butterworms, hornworms... maybe she is just hungry for something new! Otherwise don't worry... most of their nutrients can be gotten from greens, especially with a little vitamin dusting.
