I take good care of him. I fill his food bowl with bearded dragon food when it gets low. And he doesn't drink on his own so I have to dip him in the water for him to drink. But all of a sudden he started closing his eyes and sleeping a lot. And he goes to the part of the tank where the lamp doesn't touch making him extremely cold. His belly is very empty looking and his arms and legs look extremely skiny. Does he have some sort of sickness? I'm poor so I can't take him to a vet either. If I did something to cause this and it wasn't a sickness I wouldn't know how to feel.

Hello,

Oh dear, he is very thin!
How long have you had him for?
He needs to see a vet but until you can get him there, try to get some baby food for him, such as chicken or turkey babyfood with squash babyfood. Use a plastic dropper or syringe to get food onto his nose to see if he will eat any.
Please review your tank setup with us such the type/brand of UVB, supplementation, the temperatures & his diet. Try to keep him around 80 overnight right now since he isn't feelng well.

If bearded dragon food is all your feeding him he's so thin because he's starving. If the bearded dragon food is all your feeding him go get some crickets a.s.a.p and dust them

Hi Dylan, I'm sorry that your baby is so sick. :( Where did you get him, and if you can see the other babies that are there [ pet store ], are they looking sick as well ? You probably just didn't get the right info on how to care from the store and it may be that the babies there are all sickly.

At this stage be prepared, he likely will not make it but you CAN try what Drache613 mentioned, getting some watered down baby food [ chicken, green bean, squash with no added salt ] in him. Try dabbing it on his nose a few times a day to get him to lick it. If he doesn't take in anything by the end of the day he is probably too far gone but you can still try.

I will see what I can do. He's a figher. He isn't giving up easily.

No, he is too weak for crickets right now, hardly has strength to open his eyes. Try the baby food using a syringe or whatever way you can dab some on his mouth. You can try to open his mouth slightly by using a playing card or a piece of cardboard [ like from a cereal box top ] , slip it between his lips and wiggle very slightly, as he opens his mouth you might get a few drops of baby food/water mix . It may or may not work in his condition but it's probably the only way to get any hydration/nutrition in him. Best wishes for your poor little guy.

I actually gasped when I looked at these photos. This is so sad. It is likely that he won't make it, and I'm sure you have done your best, but most times this happens because of improper care information given at pet stores. The bestyou can do is, like the others said, try to feed him some baby food to get some nutrition and water in him. Hoping for the best.

That poor baby is starving

It's clear you must've been given improper information. Please, from now on do your own research online before buying an animal, and it is always best to be financially stable when deciding to take care of another living being.

All I can say is follow what has been said above, and hopefully he will make it through but it is unlikely. That poor poor baby...

Agreed. It is so sad to see animals in conditions like this. And people will use any excuse, but money is the biggest one. I get that he is searching for help now, which is good, but you have GOT to know what you're getting into before you do it. Beardies are not an inexpensive pet to keep, and thorough research has to be done before purchasing one.

Amen

honestly, he is so unhealthy it isn't fair to him to stay alive. take him the the emergency vet and see if you can set up a monthly payemnent for him to get help.

Sorry you have to go through this. Take him the the emergency vet and tell them you can't afford to put him down or get him medicine and see if they can take him from you and help him.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
