Hey guys!
Just wondering, what is your multivitamin and calcium powder dusting schedule? I know, I really do, that I need to do this, I did it when Leo was young, but I got apprehensive because someone I know said their dragon got sick after too much calcium. I really don't want to make Leo sick. He is 1 year and about 8 months. What schedule do you recommend I put him on?
As an adult he should be eating mostly salads. Those don't need to be supplemented or dusted. Just offer a nice wide variety. Collard greens are pretty calcium rich so I like using those as a staple when they look fresh at the store.
I would offer a bug meal once or twice per week and dust them with a thin even coat of calcium by shaking them in a small cup with some of the calcium powder. Maybe every 4th or 5th meal switch to a multivitamin. I don't find the supplementation as important with adults since most of their nutrients come from salads by that point. It's much more important for young dragons because so much of their diet is still bugs.
Hi Ash
There's A lot of ways people feed their masters on here
As I now know bugs shouldn't be fed everyday to our sub adult and adult beardies due to the overdoses of protein causing gout and weight issues.
I'm still feeding my Lizzy insects 4 times a week just in lesser quantities, she was used to getting them everyday so we are weaning lol. I dust every feed and multi vitamin once a week... or every second week if I forget.
But salads salads salads every day with as much variety as I can get in there
