Just in case you don't feel like reading:
•should I wait until I have all my furniture in my room to bring my dragon over to the new house?
•should I transport him in his box or in my shirt?
-----Details------
I'm moving about thirty minutes away from my current house. We will be staying in the house I am currently in for a while until most of the furniture is moved, should I wait until I get all of the furniture in my room to bring Binx there? Also, how should I transport him? He enjoys staying in my shirt and that was my first choice but I'm worried that maybe it's not safest for him. I still have his carrier from the pet store and he fits in it for the most part (he will have to curl up but he does that anyways). Should I use the carrier with those pocket hand warmers and a blanket or just let him stay in my shirt?
If you're going to set the enclosure up the same way, then you already have a good idea of what the temps etc will be. In that case, you can probably bring him and set it up at the new house once he's there. I'd use a duffel bag with some towels at the bottom, or even a big shoebox for transport. They tend to travel pretty well but it's good to have an enclosed space available as well as some products available for poop cleanup if needed. 30 minutes isn't much of a trip so it shouldn't be a problem. I bring my guys on car rides of 6+ hours without much issue.
hi!
I travel with my beardie twice a year to Nashville which is about a 10 hour drive from where I live. What I do is leave her 4 foot Vic at home, and take a 30 gallon glass tank with a regular screened top with me - it has her UVB strip bulb installed inside - and I take a ceramic dome with me for her heat bulb - I just plug it up when I get there - surprisingly she is really adaptable to this. Maybe she's used to it - we've been doing this for 5 years. But even the first time she ever seemed to freak out or seem stressed. During the ride she would sleep, and if she woke up she would hang out on my shoulder or sit on the passenger seat. They (well I can't speak for them all) travel well. As long as I bring her regular basking platform, her little stuffed animals and a towel and blanket all from her big she seems content. I still do her regular light cycles, food, and baths while wee are i. Nashville for the week. And out of tank time on my chest and shoulders too. GOOD LUCK!!! your dragon should do just fine! Keep things as regular as possible and it should be ALLL good.
