Hey, y'all.

With my first breeding season hopefully being in 2026, I'm really wanting to do my research now, so I have the most understanding possible when it becomes time.

Now everyone wants that zero, or paradox, or g stripe, but how do you accurately pair a mom and dad to get the trait you want? As for me, I would LOVE to get a G Stripe out of a breeding season. To do that, do you need to purchase a G Stripe first, or are there other ways to pair a mom and dad for a higher "chance" of one?

I don't know much about pairing certain genetics other than the basics (hypo, trans, LB, silkie, etc.)

G stripe isn't a natural mutations, it has been developed through selective breeding. The odds of getting a g stripe through any pairing that isn't g strip is pretty much nill.
As far as I know, there is no het for g stripe, it's a dominant gene so they either have it (visible) or they don't (not visible).
That being said, if you want to produce them, you'll have to buy a g stripe or find someone with one that is willing to breed it into your dragon 🐉
Breeding with someone else's dragons though has the inherent risk of spreading diseases like avd. If you go that route be careful that the other person knows their dragon is 100% healthy.

Here is an article that goes into gentic in a simplified write up. I know of a way more detailed article, if I can find it I'll post a link to it also 🙂

There’s no chance I would breed with someone else’s dragon, so looks like purchasing a normal g stripe male and pairing it with my hypo LB female is the way to go!

Thank you for the information. Do you know about paradox? Is that a random chance, or is it same with g stripe where you need a paradox to get paradox?

The paradox mutation isn't fully understood yet. Hence the name. This brief explanation on morph market explains it decently.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
