I was just wondering if moodiness during brumation can happen. It's winter where I live and about that time for brumation and my lizard has gotten very moody and more tired than usual. He still eats just the way he did before. But now when I take him out of his cage he likes to act like a bad ass and open his mouth even when I'm not annoying him. He will just be sitting on my shirt and then he will open his mouth. And I know that it's not because he's too warm because he feels cold. He just seems really antsy and irritable lately. Just making sure this is an okay behavior for him and that nothing is wrong.
Hey,
i dont have the answers for you, but just wanted to say that one of our's does this to my partner lol, opens his mouth whilst on his arm, he doesnt do it to me so i dont care lmao, interested in the answers you get tho!
I have not gone through brumation with mine, but the stories that have been posted and the research I have done on is says that hormone levels got up quite a bit during brumation so when they come out of it is when they usually look for a mate. The rise in hormones makes them a little crazy for a while. From what others have posted they do go back to normal eventually. Good luck.
Ok yeah that makes sense. Whenever he gets crazy i just wrap him up in a blanket with his head sticking out and hold tight to keep him warm and he'll calm down and fall asleep. Sometimes he's just too stubborn though! Silly lizard.
