Moira still not eating and inactive... frustrating.

Hey again. It's been a while, but unfortunately I'm still dealing with the same problem I've been having for over a year and a half... Here's the link to one of my more detailed previous topics, which more or less still holds true to this post. I apologize ahead of time for the incoming wall of text. :( The post has my 40g breeder's specs listed. Everything is the same except we took the logs out because she was hiding under them and never moving and the UVB was changed sometime in October.

After that post, I started talking with my husband about possibly getting her to a Reptile Specialist in Houston. We knew it would be quite a drive (2.5 hours) and not just pocket change. When we were getting ready to do this sometime in August, we acquired an injured Iguana; of the two lizards, she was in more urgent need (3 fractures, lost an eye, piece of tail missing), so it took us some time to fix up the Iguana before we could get Moira in somewhere (money-wise).

SO long story short on 10/31/2016 we took Moira in to this specialist animal hospital (Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists) and had them run tests on her. They ran a fecal, some oral antibiotics (I think), oral dewormer to use twice- just in case, and 2 types of fancy blood tests. It was expensive and we ended up with no new information from them except that she was a little underweight and a little high on the calcium side, but otherwise healthy with no parasites and no compaction. To find out nothing is wrong with her is very, very frustrating in this situation.

Now here I am, months and months later and I just don't know what to do with her. I have stopped taking her out and holding her because she doesn't do much except climb on my neck and cuddle into my hair for a few minutes until I settle down (which is adorable), then she tries jumping off me onto my chair to get to her tank. Plus she looks so pitiful in her corner that I am afraid it'll just stress her out more by messing with her.
The specialist had called us to inquire how she was doing 2 weeks after her visit and said if Moira wasn't eating to slow down on offering her food everyday and mix it up between every 3-4 days and see if that helps. I started trying to do that but after some time (maybe a month?) I believe I started putting more and more days between until we were only offering her greens every other day (because we get them out for the Iguana, so we naturally offer Moira some as well) and syringe feeding maybe twice a month. She was eating a leaf (not the whole leaf, but about a 2"x2" size piece) but that has stopped since the end of December.

That's where I'm at now. Honestly, I love the little girl but I'm just tired and frustrated with the situation. She's real sweet and has never black bearded us nor snapped/been defensive towards us. I think the only thing we haven't tried that others have mentioned could be done is a probiotic, but we're currently waiting on taxes to help out financially so that's out of the picture for now anyway. Help? Ideas? I don't know if everyone I've talked with about her is worried about hurting my feelings or anything, but please be blunt if needed. I would like her to be a happy lizard.

TLDR; My dragon refuses to eat on her own. She does not move about but will stay in the same corner in her cage for days until I move her/syringe feed her/etc, but she'll promptly move back over to her corner within the hour again once set back in there. This has been going on for about 1.5 years now. She has no known health issues.

I recommend a product called BENE-BAC

It loads the gut with micro flora that are there naturally, helps to battle any immune deficiency especially if the animal has been using all they have to try and get better.

Be weary of things like meningitis and hepatitis, gout, and even thyroid problems.

Beardies can be simple yes, but in my experiences each one has some sort of quirk whether it be really smelly poop or meningitis ;)

I recommend a BLOOD test,
Your dragon could have atadenovirus, but don't ever make an assumption there.
Bearded dragon diseases disorders and deficiencies look so much alike that sometimes you're actually treating the wrong thing and causing more damage than good.

If you cant afford the vet bills, then send the dragon to a reputable rescue, or sanctuary.

I'm not sure it works the same way everywhere, but I live in the greater Toronto area, in Canada, around here there are specialists and reptile zoos.

I'm sure a local vet can point you in the right direction or offer some suggestion.

Don't rule out deficiency - Vitamin A deficiency and Hypervitaminosis A look almost exactly the same,
one is too little and one is too much.

Blood tests.

Thank you for the reply. I assume you just read the Tldr because in paragraph 3 I did mention the tests we ran and blood tests was one of them. The vet stated she was healthy if just a little under weight. The only thing wrong on the blood tests were her calcium levels being on the high side, which we fixed by stopping her calcium supplement as often as we were giving it to her.

With reptiles it sometimes takes a full workup

You may not know this but most basic blood tests do not test for bigger issues like meningitis.

If though you are aware of this, and your vet was informed of your concerns and you did get a full workup,

then I say go to another vet, it is possible to do xrays and see if there is a PAST meningococcal infection, which would cause some underlying neurological problems,

You can call your vet and ask what the blood test was testing for exactly,
Because they will tell you, and they will tell you what else you can test for.

Theres a reason YOU give four or five vials of blood for a blood test,
Animals have several types of tests as well.

I have one dragon that I rescued that was rescued from INSIDE A FREEZER, she has what we've narrowed down to nerve death, she has NO problems in her blood tests, absolutely no deficiency, but she cannot walk, because someone froze her.

It's not always as simple as "go get a test" sometimes animals like the one you have lead to us finally realizing that they have another disorder...

If calcium levels are still high the second time around, then ask yourself, is this animals renal system functioning normally?

Hyperthyroidism?

Excuse my way of speaking I'm literally thinking aloud with you

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
