Mixed messages

My Bearded dragon is 8 months old, I've had him a month and a half, no issues but he's kind of giving me mixed messages. Sometimes he'll snuggle up to me and fall right asleep in my lap, then the next day he'll sprint all over his cage when I'm trying to take him out. Is this normal for a young beardie, or just him not wanting attention? It just seems a little odd to me.

Sounds like hes still a little skittish-- can you go over your lighting please -- this has everything to do w/ behavior--- UVB coil or a tube and where in the tank if its a tube fixture - surface basking temps and how are you getting them?
