I feel like a terrible owner right now.
So I have this backing for my enclosure that is made out of the material where small black bits come off.
For a couple of weeks I saw some laying around and on my beardie and in his eyelid and just tried to brush it off as I thought it was this.
I’ve now found out it’s mites!
I know they aren’t deadly and know how to clean them and the enclosure.
I have ordered the stuff to do so.
Now I am worried if it was enough mites to cause something bad to him.
How many mites does there have to be for it to become bad for him.
Thanks
Do you know what kind of mites they are? If they are reptile mites vs some kind of house mite? I would bake everything wooden in the tank and give everything else a good scrub with vinegar/water and sanitize it with some F10 or diluted bleach. Give your dragon a bath and see if they come off. If not, add some betadine to the water which should kill them off. Here is a link to more info http://www.anapsid.org/mites.html
