They're Phytoseiid and Orbatid mites, not sure what constitutes a red mite. The Orbatids are all pure white and the Phytoseiids are brownish red to white (presumably the young ones are white). What would be the signs of mites on my bearded dragon?
While not the easiest thing to see, mites can be visible on the bearded dragons skin. Parasitic infections, usually not visible(like pinworms or coccidia). Personally, I have yet to see any kites on my beardies skin. Now that I think of it, my beardy is overdue for a vet check, time to spend some big bucks.... Oh how I love doing that :? Hopefully he has nothing but I've noticed some pretty runny poop lately.
I don't know the scientific name of the ones that infest reptiles but they can be red or black. The red ones are most common.....you can see them around the eyes, ears, neck or under legs, etc. Here is some info on them :
They are red? Is there bamboo nearby, if so, there are bugs that roam in bamboo leaves and many other plants, they are known as plant lice and they are completely harmless. Maybe move the breeding inside, I hope this helps!
Also would like to share that Springtails are small wingless insects that surprise homeowners as they can usually group together in large numbers on driveways, backyards, and mud puddle surfaces. Outside of the home, most springtails live in rich soil or leaf litter, or under bark and decaying wood. To get rid of springtails, take steps to improve ventilation and increase drying. Removing piles of wet leaves or other moist organic clumps will help to upset their breeding grounds. One can also take the advice of some professional Pest Control Ridgefield CT or can also try some do it yourself methods to get rid of it.
