In August someone knocked on my door and informed me there was a lizard in my front yard so I went out to check it out. To my surprise there was a Bearded Dragon hiding in my bushes. I captured it and brought him into my home he is about 13-14 inches long. I spoke with my neighbors and they informed me that he was the 3rd one found in the past few weeks. I took it to the pet shop and to a reptile store hoping to find a home for him with no luck. I am 49 yrs old and had many reptiles as a youth but none as an adult. After taking care of him for about a week I became attached and decided to keep him. Russel was very skinny when I caught him and he has filled out quite well over the past 2.5 months. I am still trying to get him used to me. He will let me pet him but I have to chase him a little bit to catch him. Russel would prefer if I don't pick him up. In the beginning I gave him a few baths but he seemed quite stressed out so I decided to take it a little slower after watching a few videos on how to tame your dragon. I have not sexed Russel yet but I am calling a boy for the time being.
Wow what a story! There were dragons just loose in the neighborhood? Someone must have dumped a bunch of them off. So sad =/. I'm glad you are able to provide Russel with a good home =) It sounds like he's doing well so far.
