Hi everyone! This is Dawkins, my first bearded dragon. He's named after the famous evolutionary biologist, a personal hero of mine, Richard Dawkins. When he gets older he's going to be a bright yellow color. I purchased him from Dragon Fortress at a local expo, they told me he was hatched on June 15th. I'll update this post as he grows and his color comes out.
Hi. He's a cutie pie. I see the uvb your using is on top of the screen. It needs to be mounted in the tank. The screen blocks up to 40% of the uvb rays. What kind is it? Also he should not have loose subtrate. It can cause impaction and harbors bacteria.

I'll do some research tonight about the whole UVB thing but as far as the substrate goes you don't need to worry. The substrate is SUPER tiny so it can't cause impaction and I feed him in a separate container. The setup I have was highly praised by lllreptile and I really trust them.
Ok . Well baby beardies lick everything. So he could easily lick those particals. I just wanted to give you heads up so you don't run into problems down the road. Also most people on here do not use loose subtrate as they have learned from experience as my self that it does more harm. You should go to the care sheet on top for information on feeding, subtrate lighting etc. Enjoy your little one
