Mealworms

What does everyone feed their beardie? I feed my girl mealworms, and I raise baby mealworms to turn into darkling beetles as the beetles are a better source of nutrients and whatnot.
i just got some live ones from Walmart and this is the alive and dead ratio, for reference there’s supposed to be 32 in each package.
24 are alive and 10 are dead. Better than usual, most of the time I get more dead ones than alive ones.
The babies are so small compared to my finger.

Mealworms are considered a treat- I would get a regular staple feeder like dubias roaches crickets silk worms or bsfl- you can order mealworms along w/ the insects I just posted on line - I have websites if you would like

I feed mine beardies crickets, superworms, mealworms at times [ but the mealworms are mostly for my small African flat rock lizard ] and different veggies + flowers. I keep a mealworm colony going , it's been over 5 years now because like you said they turn in to beetles and then make baby mealworms. I set them up at room temp. in an open plastic container deep enough that I don't need a lid [ they can't crawl out ] with a bedding of oatmeal or bran and I put a piece of carrot or a leafy green in about once a week.

Oh, that is really good to know, I had no idea. when I first got Larry, I went to petco with questions on how to take care of them and what to feed them and the dude said mealworms, so that is good to know, thank you! And I’d love to know some website I could order off of, that would be so helpful

Ahhh, I really should get some crickets! my set up is similar to yours, but I do have a lid with a handle just in case (yes I’m extra )

I feed mine hornworms, dubias, superworms, and silkworms. And they get salad daily.

I’ve fed them carrots, celery, lettuce, and occasionally some meat, but that’s not a regular diet for them especially if they are babies.

I think I’m coming to realize how much food beardies eat in a day :0 they’re reptile vacuum cleaners!

That looks good, have you ever had a problem with mold ? When I put that much veg. in sometimes the oatmeal would start to get moldy.

You are feeding a fence swift , right ? Larry would be much easier to feed than a beardie.

No not usually, I take the lettuce and other fruits/vegetables out 2 days after I put it in. For lettuce I usually take it out when it dries and shrivels up. Yes she’s a fence lizard. I bet, beardies eat so much lol

My dragon eats superworms, insects and dubias (no other insects as these are the only ones I can get here).
He also, of course, eats veggies and herbs.
In addition, he is eating golliwog (that is a succulent that can be feed to reptiles). Golliwog and herbs are live plants, means I plant them into the enclosure.
My dragon is doing great, eats well, has a reasonable size/weight and over all is very healthy.
I dust his insects with calcium powder and reptivite powder.
All insects are fed with oatmeal and veggies. Looks just like the photo LarryTheLizard posted.
