I'm totally new to Bearded Dragons and I just got mine yesterday from petsmart. I used to have a skink lizard for several years when I was in teens. I missed having a lizard so I decided to get one. I think mine is around 2 months old since he's so little...around 7 inches. His name is Bossk (from star wars!).
Here's a picture of him!
He's adorable! Any advices or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He LOVES crickets....ate all of 15 in one day..wow!
I would like some more info on how to take care of crickets because I don't want to kept going to pet store to buy bugs almost everyday(or felt like it).
Hello and welcome!
The pic didn't show up for me. I hope we can get it figured out because I love to see pics!
Let's see a baby beardie
Food: (gutloaded) Bugs no bigger than the space between their eyes. Once they get going, they can eat up to 100 a day (though that is on the high side). Offer greens and veggies daily, even if they do not get eaten. Misting and bathing for water. Use calcium suppliment 5x a week, one feeding, and multivitamin 2x a week, one feeding
Temperatures: Basking spot is best at 105-110 degrees. Cool side around 80
Lights: a regular household bulb can be used for heat and light but a good UVB light is a must. Have to be careful to get a good one, as there are some not so good ones out there
Preferably no loose substrate as they can ingest it and may become impacted.
As for crickets, keep the bin they are in clean and give them something for moisture. Try not to let the bin get overly wet. Feed them veggies and such and they will be healthier for the dragon. Many people use a rubbermaid type container. You can buy them in bulk online.
Yup he's adorable So far i have him for two days but he still have those stress marks and I'm not sure how to help him calm down. So far I just added magazine clippings of desert n stuff on the glass walls. I believe the temperature is around 100 in basking area and about 80ish in cool part. He doesn't eat much of crickets today. Any advices?
