We got Feanor from a pet store, which doesn't have the... best reputation of care. Especially for reptiles and we're.. just worried. We don't think there was more than one light source there. They seemed to be fed on.. only crickets and even since monday they look... a lot bigger than they were.
They're pooping fine. They're active, and their appetite was.. low for two days. But it's come back now, both for insects and their salad and we.. heard that was normal. But Feanor's our first beardie. And we don't.. trust ourselves yet to be able to tell if they're under or overweight or to know everything that could be wrong by sight.
We have an initial appointment for them on Wednesday but we're still concerned in the meantime, and we.. thought we should consult more experienced people. In case we need to do something more (or less) in the meantime. We.. guess tldr, does Feanor look ok? (Pictures taken today)
(Tile was just up since some dubias got under it and we were.. removing them but Feanor wanted their Flesh, it isn't usually like that)
He looks very healthy with a nice belly on him. Looks like a beautiful leather back too. He has great posture. I see a digital thermometer stuck on the wall. Do you also use a temp gun or digital with probe for the basking spot?

A hydrometer actually, I use a temperature gun. I wasn't.. sure if a hydrometer was needed or not, so I got one just in case. That's a relief though, we were most worried about their weight and nutrition/effects of lighting. They were quite smaller at first, and it seemed like a short amount of time for that to change.
If you want to be sure just let us know what your set up is. What type/brand of uvb? Does it set on top of a screen? How close can he get to it? What are your basking and cool end temps? Are you dusting bugs with calcium 5x week and vitamins 2x week?
The uvb is 15 watt and reptisun, around 8 inches away from where they can get to it at all points, but generally more. It's affixed to the top of the viv.
The top isnt really a screen but for two places where the CHE and basking bulbs can fit (though I have an idea as to how I may be able to modify that if it'd be an issue). Basking temperatures are between 96 and 101 generally and the cool end of the tank is mid to upper 70s (all farenheit).
I'm dusting at those rates, and I use extra small dubia roaches and pheonix worms to feed them in general - and they have a salad available in their cage generally consisting of three or so kinds of greens and three or so kinds of squash.
