I live in TN and go to Morristown every week while at the mall I walked into the pet shop it's called carousel pets.I walked back to where they keep the reptiles ( I am allergic to anything with feathers or fur ) and they had some baby beardies. There where 3 all housed in this tiny 5gal maybe tank on crushed walnut shell no food or uvb . They have had all 3 babies for about a month. To make a long story short the two bigger ones where ganging up on the little one and his tail is all chewed up and part of its black and I told the owner and they just blew me off saying it was fine. So I called the local humane society and they couldn't help because reptiles arnt really pets really. I would go get it but I had some repairs to get done one my car so I now don't have the extra money. I was hoping someone around the threads could help him if they lived close enough. It's just breaking my heart to think about it.
I don't live around there but if I did I would help!!! (And yes they are a pet). Breaks my heart to even think about it. And them just blowing it off makes it worse. They don't even care :'( wish I could help more.
I can't help the poor little guy. I live in Maine. If I could I would. I'm just saying this because of what the humane society said. I thought they loved all animals. Pet or no pet. If they did take it in someone would adopt it. Or it could at least get put into a reptile sanctuary. I hate to see animals suffer. It angers me especially if they are ignorant and uncaring.
Ya I understand. I thought they did to. Hopefully the little guy makes it. I can't even understand how someone that works there doesn't help and even when you told them.. don't they feel awful? If I saw something like that, I would do exactly what you did at least you tried.
Isn't it amazing how you can call attention to suffering reptiles at pet stores and they ALWAYS say that it is just fine or they don't have that problem at their store. HMM? I wonder if it was a dog or a cat if they would respond better. I don't know.
Wow I must be stupid. I went to that pet shop in the mall today to check on the baby one was laying there dead and another (completely different from the mentioned one above ) had its tail completely gone. I want up to the owner and asked if I could get a discount on the live one and let her know the other one is dead. And her reply was well we don't give discounts because our breeder in Knoxville gives us full credit even if their dead. WTF I can't stand it looks like I'm not going in there anymore. I got physically ill when I leftleft
Wow. I feel sick just reading that. So if they let it die, they can get a full discount? So it's better to let them die? Have you considered reporting that to the Humane Society or something. Maybe a local reptile rescue could go get the other one before it dies. That is so sad! They should have just let you have the one with the tail missing free, but then would wouldn't get their money back. That is just incredibly sad. Those poor little babies. I am sure that was really hard for you.
Now that makes me angry. They get full credit if the animal dies? Do they not care at all about animals? Do they only want money? That is wrong. But on the good side the beardie is at peace. He should've had a better life though.
I guess they just see them as a marketable product to make a profit on. They don't consider that these animals feel pain and need attention. I just don't get it.
Yeah, that is what most people think. Like what about puppy mills? Those are dogs and people treat them like money makers. Animals feel pain AND emotion. They even act like people sometimes. I don't get it either.
I already called the humane society they said reptiles weren't pets. And yes they said it didn't matter dead or alive all they had to do is send the body back. They treat the furry and feathered animals wonderful it's just their reptiles they treat as disposable. You know it's bad when you actually pray for their speedy death so the don't suffer anymore
