Major constipation

Hi there,
I got a baby bearded dragon as a classroom pet for my 3rd grade classroom about 2 weeks ago and unfortunately it has not gone to the bathroom since the night I got it. It seems to be eating and drinking regularly. I was told to feed it 2 meal worms and 10-15 crickets daily with subbing in some trail mix, fruits, and vegetables as a rare treat but since my lizard is so young I’ve only been doing 2 of the smallest size meal worms and 2-3 crickets daily. My lizard does eat but because it is still so young I worry about its ability to digest the food. I am not even able to tell the gender yet so we are expecting it to be around 2 months at the most. I’ve never had a bearded dragon before so I have no idea how concerned I should be. I plan to try the bath and purred pumpkin ideas on here tomorrow. If anyone else has suggestions please let me know.

Hello,

Sorry you are having some trouble. We can review your tank setup with us such as the type & brand of UVB, temperatures in the tank & what you are using to measure them with, etc.
Do you have him on sand or another type of substrate currently?
Since he is so small, you definitely want to keep the size of the insect smaller than the space between the eyes to avoid impaction.
Please post some pictures of your tank setup along with your dragon so we can see his environment.
We normally don't recommend too many mealworms due to the harder shell on them that is hard to digest. Tiny crickets, or small phoenix worms are good & easy to obtain.

I can’t wait to see Dr.Wilson be a big dragon but I try to cherish hard the moments while he still fits in my hand 🦎
It’s been a month since I’ve joined bd.org! It feels like it’s been longer than that, but I’m glad I’m here and apart of this lovely community!
I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
