Looking into Cresities

My boyfriend and I both have beardies. We like to go to reptile swaps. And just last Saturday him and I fell in love with crested geckos. But we are getting mixed ideas. The lady we talked to was very formative and helped us understand. But we also looked in other places to find out more information. The problem is some people say that we should have UVA/UVB light and other tell us that we do not need no light what so ever. Please help us clear up some of this information.

I was looking at them too! I like how they look and they aren't high maintenance. They're very interesting. Are you getting mixed messages from various breeders or from pet stores? I would trust a respected breeder's input instead of the various care sheets that are found online. I would ask on a crested gecko site, like http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/index.php. I have had cresties for about 2 years now and breeding them for a year.. theres about 30 in my house right now. There is no need for uva/uvb light.. no heat needed unless it gets below 65 degrees.. you need to be careful above 85 degrees. they dont like it very hot. They become lathargic and a breeder I know lost some of his collection because it got to warm.
I feed mine crested gecko diet. and thats it.. sometimes throw in a papaya treat. they grow well and are healthy.

I just got a crested last weekend! Her/his name is Bacon, because the stripe down its back made me think of bacon fat. Hoorah! :mrgreen:
