So I'm finally almost finished with my enclosure for Gilbert
We still need to put the lights in and throw some trim around it.
The goal is to finish the lights today, but I am stuck as to where in the enclosure I should put them. I have 2 single light fixtures (day/night heat) and 2 36"fluorescent tubes (uvb and regular light for extra brightness)
Where the heck do yall think I should put them?
I originally planned on putting one of tubes diagonal from the back right corner to the front of the cage and the other straight across the back, but I've been second guessing the logic of that as of late. I've been questioning it because I'd have no idea where to put my 2 single fixtures.
I don't really want to angle my 2 single fixtures, I want them to be straight down.
What do you think would be the smartest place to position my lights?
If the enclosure is wide enough, you could put one light across the back, then the other directly in front of it, then your basking bulbs in front. This is the only way I see it. You could also get a lamp stand from the pet store for one of your basking bulbs as well. Or, when you set up all the lights, you may not need the extra tube fixture that adds brightness. This would give you a lot more space. Hope this helps.
Here is what I did. I'm using 18" tubes however...
Here is what the top of my enclosure looks like without the tubes hanging down. This was before I remodeled...and when MegaRay's were still good . Its the same currently, sans the MVB, and now I have tubes hanging down. Those aren't UVB coils BTW...
badcon, where'd u get the tube connectors??? building my own viv too and also wondered about where to put my lights.. got me a cheap 24" fixture from walmart awhile ago but i think i like those hanging ones better.
Thanks everyone.
I was actually thinking about doing that 2nd one. Which is also what Erin said to do, and it does seem like the only logical way to put in 36ers. I really wish mine was 18" it would just be so much easier and smarter.
Haha, BadCon poor you, you stay throwing out that link. You should post something titled "The answer to all of your problems" and have that link in it.
Thanks Erin that's very sweet, my dad will love hearing that when I tell him hahaha.
If you know what you're doing the cage could actually just take one very dedicated day. The stand he built for it on the other hand..
