I've heard all the good things about the long tube UVB reptisun 10.0 thing. I noticed that they also make the same one in a compact bulb. the tube one costs an average amount but then you have to buy the fancy fixture that costs more than the tube itself. So what i'm asking is, is the compact still enough? Thanks!
http://www.uvguide.co.uk/compactlamps.htm Here's a link. Lots of technical. Scoll to the bottom of page for vivarium use. In a nut shell compacts only work in small areas, otherwise they's they lose effectiveness. Distance is a big factor too, anything more than 12" uv levels drop quickly. Those colorful buttons on the left side of that page have more useful info.
Thanks alot every one! For the tubes, if their the right length will they work in any fixture? Because I have a fish tank fixture that is setup using two pairs of the tubes. If I found the right size would it just fit in there and work properly?
Hopeful, most of those are rated for T-10 tubes, and the reptisun is a T-8. I would highly suggest taking in the fixture with you to check T-8 tubes at the local shop.
