I just had a question about the type of lighting fixtures that can be used for UVB lights.
I am using T5 UVB lighting, but the size I use has been discontinued, meaning I need to buy a new fixture for the new light-size. The actual reptile lighting fixtures are really expensive, and I was just wondering whether a normal household, tube fixture will do the same job? I figured it will, considering it is only really what the light itself is emitting that matters, and the fixture just allows it to do its job?
You are wanting to use a regular T5 household light fixture for your T5 tube UVB light?
As long as the light fits the fixture that should be fine. Not all fixtures are good though
for high quality emissions. Does it have reflective backing on it?
And I found it was cheaper to buy and import a bunch of these for my new BT and beardie mansion projects direct from the UK rather than trying to find a local reseller (no one here (in Australia stocked them , not even Arcadia AP , and it worked out cheaper including the airparcel post than buying just the tubes (if I could find someone who enough in stock) and non-Arcadia brand reflector hoods to suit.
If you want the email address of the place I bought my batch of 4 x 24W T5ho kits , pm me.
