Lighting Distance

Hi all, new here. I recently moved my beardies uvb inside as the screen on top has very little holes and have been told not much will be getting through to him. My question revolves around how close he is able to get the uvb. On the one perch he can get as close as 4-6 inches from it, then on the other perch he likes to be on it likely doesn't reach him very much. On the highest perch he can chose to be under it or not. From the ground it is likely 14 to 16 inches from it. Is it okay to be this way since he can move away from it? Or should I move it? I feel like i could only move it straight but then wouldn't be over his basking areas. My only other thought is to lay the tree like structure down so there is more distance, but he does like to get up high on this branch. Sometimes he faces away from it towards the end of the branch, and other he's turned facing towards uvb. Some pictures below. Thank you soo much!
Featuring Chili, he has a zoomed T5 uvb bulb in a 36x18x18 enclosure for now.

At 4 to 6 inches he is likely get a uv index of 8 to 10 uvi that's pretty high and could contribute to cancer over time. (That is assuming your bulb is in good condition and cranking out uvb) I would probably rearrange the branch just a little so that he isn't directly under the uvb. Without a solarmeter all you can do really is guess on the amount. I checked one of my bulbs a couple days ago and at 5 to 6 inches I was getting almost 9 uvi and that bulb is more than a year old.

I recommend 12-15 inches in the tank directly under it -

I have that same tree and I have a solarmeter 6.5R with a t5 10.0 high output zoomed Reptisun uvb (similar to an Arcadia 12%). I see your high point of the branch is a little behind the uvb tube. You would be surprised how much the uv drops off when not directly under the tube. On the lower part of the branch where my dragon sits, right under the tube, the uvb is 4.5 to 5.1. With the high point of the branch positioned just behind the uvb tube, his uvb drops off to 3.0. A little further back and it is only 2.5. Here is how I have mine if it helps. The first pic shows the high part of the branch angled in front of the uvb tube...uvb there is 1.5. The second pic shows the high part angled just behind the uvb tube...uvb 1.8 to 2.5 depending on exactly where he sits. The lower part of the branch is right under the tube itself and runs between 3.5 and 5.1 depending on how the tree is angled. My tank is 2 feet high with an undermount uvb fairly tight to the bottom of the screen. Hope that helps!

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
