Their total in this outbreak is 2051. ACT recorded 0 delta deaths.. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> QLD recorded 10 cases , 8 local . Their LOCAL total in this output is 243 QLD recorded zero delta deaths.. QLD have a total of 10 #COVID cases. Of these cases, 1 was a community acquired case, 7 were interstate acquired and detected in hotel quarantine, and 2 were overseas acquired and detected in hotel quarantine. NSW-Queensland border reopened to hotspot states today. Police warned drivers to expect long delays on the New South Wales-Queensland border which reopened in the early hours of this morning. Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll estimated that as many as 50,000 cars were likely to cross the border at the Pacific HW , New England HW and on regional cross border roads. For the first time in five months, fully-vaccinated travellers are be able to enter Queensland by road or air without needing to quarantine. They are required to return a negative COVID test within 72 hours of their arrival and get tested again five days after arriving.Fully-vaccinated border residents will be able to move freely although they will need to obtain a pass. Those who aren't fully vaccinated can only enter by air and will have to spend 14 days in hotel quarantine ( at their own cost ). Unvaccinated border residents will be NOT be able to move freely AND REMAIN SUBJECT to venue entry restrictions. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SA recorded 13 CASEs, of which 11 are local, 0 mystery cases . Their LOCAL total in this output is 107. SA recorded zero delta deaths.. South Australia has dropped the extended quarantine requirements for close contacts of Omicron cases. SA has at least two confirmed cases of the new variant, and its arrival last week prompted the state government to increase the isolation requirement for close contacts at exposure sites from seven to 14 days. But after a meeting of chief health officers from across the country on Monday, SA's Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier said the isolation requirement for those fully vaccinated would return to seven days. They are still required to have a day 13 virus test, must not attend high-risk settings or COVID management plan events and must wear a surgical mask when around other people. Anyone unvaccinated will still be required to quarantine or 14 days. "This change will align with our response to Delta cases in South Australia and will be more practical to implement given that at some point it will not be possible to differentiate between these strains as the case numbers increase," Professor Spurrier said. WA recorded 1 CASES , 0 LOCAL cases, and 0 delta deaths.. Western Australia’s premier, Mark McGowan, has announced the state’s border will reopen on 5 February when double-dose vaccination is predicted to hit 90%, allowing for quarantine-free travel to the state. Why was 5 February chosen? The date was chosen based on advise provided by health professionals and projections that 90% of people older than 12 will be double-dose vaccinated by 5 February. “We are very confident that by 5 February we will hit double-dose vaccination for the entirety of Western Australia,” McGowan said. What are the vaccination rates like in WA? Statewide, more than 200,000 people still need to get their second vaccination dose to reach the 90% mark. Currently, 57% of the Aboriginal population have received their first dose and about 40% are fully vaccinated. More than 90% of people aged 50 and over are fully vaccinated; about 82% of the 40-something population are fully vaccinated; 75% of 30–40-year-olds are fully vaccinated; for the 20-something cohort, 60% are fully vaccinated; for those aged 16 to 19 years, 63% are fully vaccinated; and half of all kids aged 12 to 15 have been vaccinated. WA Premier Mark McGowan said if the regions with low vaccination rates don’t reach the 80 per cent double dose mark by February 5 when borders reopen, they will be subject to “enhanced public health measures”. Mr McGowan called out specific regions with low vaccination rates including the Kimberley, Goldfields, and the Pilbara. “Proof of vaccination requirements will be expanded to pubs, bars, dine in service at restaurants and cafes, bottle shops, other indoor entertainment venues, gyms, and fitness centres,” he said. “Mask wearing will be required at other indoor venues that do not require proof of vaccination. “And no air travel into the region will be permitted without proof of vaccination for people aged 12 and over.” Continues
