I agree πŸ‘ I love taking them out like that. They do get spoiled to it though lol.
You can't spoil a dragon with a good walk in the real sun. So it's okay. I constantly think about the fact that our dragons only see what we can show them in their entire lives. So I try to make him as happy as possible, to show him everything that there is in this world. And walks in the sun are definitely on that list.

That wood is some we picked up in Washington. We carried it on the ferry off the peninsula and then all the way to Las Vegas. We brought back several large pieces πŸ™‚
The wood is super, it was definitely worth carrying it across half the country.

I agree on both points πŸ‘ when it's warm enough out, we try to take our beardies on as many car rides as possible. Even if it's only to pick up fast food. They all love it and fire up so much in the car.

It is sandstone, we did flagstone in our back yard and I saved a few pieces to use in my setups.
Tell me please, did you try to organize a basking zone on these stones?
I saw a lot of posts that it is better to use a artificial stone for these purposes. I am interested to know if you really have a problem with excessive heating on natural stones.

I usually keep the basking just off to the side. I let the halo of light hit the sandstone so it's warm, but I don't put it directly above. They can get pretty hot. The exception was when Ruby was in brumation. She slept under hers so I put the light straight above and it kept her temp underneath pretty decent.

Do you select the lamp position so that the sensor shows 95-100 degrees on the stone? Or do you not aim for the dragons to bask on these stones?

I don't generally intend for them to bask on the stone. It's there for nail maintenance, and for being the roof of a hide. I give them plenty of other places to bask. I mostly let the outer to middle outer edge of the basking light overlap the stone so it doesn't get cool enough to sap heat out of my dragons if they decide to sit there.

I understand. Thank you for your consultation!πŸ™

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
