I only leave the crickets in there when he's awake because when they start climbing on him he freaks out and shakes them off and runs away. For the most part the crickets stay away from him too but when it's time to go to bed i pick what ever is left out and put them back in the bin.

OK, here's an update. :(

This morning I stopped at a yard sale and got a 20L. I started thinking that maybe today is the day the little beardie will come home, and when I got to the pet store, there were 3 beardie babies just sort of lying around in the back. I didn't see my little friend, but there was a tail sticking out from behind a log that may have been her. Nobody was moving, and one picked up it head slightly to look at me. Their food dish consisted of what looked like cut up cabbage along with some cut up carrots. The pieces were 2-3 times the size of their entire heads mixed with some large mealworms that were cut in half, and obviously much too large for a reptile of that size.

I don't know if she was the one behind the log or not, but I'm guessing with food that size they may be impacted, but don't know. They looked a little thin.

Ok. here's my (unasked for) two cents.
I chose an Adult for my 1st beardie. It's a long story but I was able to bring home a beautiful dragon, 1yr old, with set-up, in my price range and in my very small home town. It took me months to find her! Months! (understandable  ) but when she came along it was amazing! You're so thankful you waited, you know in your heart you've found "the one."
Have you thought about making a list of everything you're looking for? It really helped me and now I'm one of the most proud BD moms you will ever meet.
Just an idea

She's pretty, and I'm glad you found each other. :)

My list is simple--healthy and friendly. It's the personality I'm interested in and not the color or markings. I'm not actively looking for a beardie, although temptation does strike from time to time and the thought of a cuddly reptile is hard to resist. They do show up on Craigslist fairly frequently, and there's one there now. The little one just got to me with her friendliness.

I really like color of the silver one in the banner at the top of this forum.

I wasn't looking for color either. I just lucked out with Myah. I wish you luck, keep us updated

I just stopped by there to see if they had a lid for the 20L (they were sold out) and someone chopped the food up finer. They were looking better, and she was up front keeping an eye on people. It looks like she's grown a bit, and is closer to 5 inches.

That sucks! :(
I'd like to make another suggestion. Maybe you could just get the 40gal piece by piece. Babies grow CRAZY fast and it's hard to provide the right temp gradient in a small tank. If the baby you like is still there by the time you're done, it was meant to be! :D

There's another pet store across town that may have them. (Whistling innocently) Another reptile? Who, me?

She's not one that'll impress the people on the board, just a little brown thing with a bit of red trim. But nobody's plain if somebody loves them!

And I was thinking the same thing.

I didn't even know BD's came in different colors when I found Myah! LOL! I just knew I wanted an adult, under 3yrs of age, with set up, for under $100, close by. I was now kijiji just looking at everything and anything for fun when I saw an add "Bearded Dragon- Orange" I clicked just to see a different color BD! LOL! I was shocked to see that the family lived 5mins away in our small town! :D The add had only been up for a hour and it met all my criteria! She really was meant for me.
Some of my favorite BD's here are 'normal color' including one of my "God-lizards" Geico :love5:

LOL, it sounds like Myah was meant for you! Some things are just meant to be.

The nice sturdy log table in my living room is the exact size needed for a 40 gallon, and it will be empty as soon as I sell the two computers sitting on it. How awful to have an empty table! The computers are on Cragislist right now. Also, Petco is having a dollar a gallon sale on tanks. The 40 gallon ones just happen to be marked down to $40 this month, but I don't want to get a 40 gallon one unless I know for sure I'll be getting a beardie, because they are too big for geckos and would take up a lot of room in storage.

Normal is underrated. :)

It sounds like it would be, but they get lost in tanks that large and have a tendency to stop eating when the tank's too big. And they usually have to live alone unless two females are raised together. Even then they can bully or injure each other, so I couldn't really put several non-breeding geckos in the same tank. Most lizards seem to be pretty grumpy about sharing their cages.

It's a lovely autumn day, and a nice drive, oh, maybe to the other end of town where Petco is, just to look, you know, might be a pleasant way to enjoy the day. :D

She'll be happy about that! Gotta spoil her, right?

I came home with a new 40 gallon tank and a lid. They'll stay in my SUV until the computers are gone. What's the best kind of UVB bulb for a beardie? There seem to be so many. A bulb might just happen to make its way into my shopping cart in the near future, too. :) Then once all the stuff is here, it'll be a shame to let it all go unused. You know how that works.

So to any reading this, how on earth do I post a thread 😅 New here, possibly too old for this

I have questions about bubbles on our bearded dragons eye.

So he’s gotten bubbles on his eye. We wiped them off and it’s only been twice in the last few weeks. Should we be concerned? No coughing or congestion. He’s very hungry and sleeps well. He’s 8-9 month range. His humidity is 30-40 day time and as high as 50-55 at night to early morning.
Should we be concerned?
