Lazy man

Hi Mushu is under a year old. I got him in July. I’m wondering how to get him active again. When I first got him he wanted to explore and walk around… now he just wants to be on me. I have no problem with him wanting to be around my husband and myself but I miss him running around. He’ll sometimes follow me up my stairs but that’s rarely now.
When he’s in his enclosure he likes to sit on one of two his logs and just watch us. Any suggestions would be great.

He does run after his dubias.

This is normal behavior -- they get less active as they get older

You could try toys or laser pointer, just make sute they are beardie safe and don't point the pointer at his eyes. Also you offer treat food, blue berries, hornworms, silkworms ect and place them were he can see then but has to go get them.

Almost sounds like a behavioral issue.
He might just want attention
They do get lazy at times especially when they get older.
At 950 Grams my beardie Skittles at the time wanted to do basically nothing.
Bask, eat lay & down basically.

He's still young, curious & exploring at that age.
My beardie wanted to checkout what I was cooking the other day.

In other words do nothing so we’d go grab him and move him around so he doesn’t have to.
I don’t think it could be related to his weight-432grams.
And I don’t think it’s a brumation thing - he doesn’t sleep during the day. And he doesn’t hide during the day.

Some dragons are just inherently lazy. My older male is so lazy i have to poke him sometimes to makes sure he is still alive. About the only thing that gets him to move is seeing the girls lol.
A trick you can use when he is out is to tickle him right where his back legs meet the boby, i think pretty much all of them are ticklish there lol. But be warned he may kick you 😁😁

So I tried a few beardie toys - he shows no interest at all. But today I was letting him out of his enclosure and he was actually roaming around! Maybe only 10mins worth but it was more than normal!! I knew he was finally done when he fell asleep on my stairs. I did notice one thing that was different today was he had a half black beard while roaming. My house is pretty warm and I turn the heat up when I let him out. Any ideas as to the beard? He’s never done that before.

If he doesn't usually roam, he may have been a little stressed seeing new things, a lot of beardies don't like change, they really are creatures of habit.

It’s nothing new to him. He’s use to my living room and gets to be taken out every other day. In hopes he’ll roam and get exercise

They can blacjen their beards for all kinds of reason or no reason at all, just keep an eye on him, if he is continually black bearding that would indicate some problem. Otherwise he should be ok

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
