Holly my two year old beardie had been eating less, just her roaches, and spending most of her time on the cool side of the cage. Over the last day or so she has been hiding under her log. We had a warm spell and then a cold snap here in NY. Could she be bruminating late?
Hi there....can you post pics of Holly ? How big is she [ length/weight ? ] Exactly how much is she eating ? Beardies eat far less insects once they are grown. What are the temps. in her tank on the hot side ? She may be either too hot or too cold. Hopefully it's something simple that can easily be fixed or just a phase.
Holly is probably about 14" long. I am not sure of her weight since I don't have a gram scale. She hasn't lost any weight as far as I can tell. Her hot side runs about 125 on her basking spot. Cool side is in the high 80s low 90s. I gave her a bath yesterday and she perked up and spent the afternoon on her perch. She was also eating some salad yesterday morning. I think I was worrying for nothing though I have a veterinarian friend I am going to have take a look at her. (She won't charge me!)
That's good that she ate some salad. I might suggest that the temps. are too hot though, try getting the cool side to 78-80 and the hot side to 105. Beardies will hide if they are too hot, so that may be the problem.
Raising the heat lamp or putting it on a lamp dimmer is probably the easiest way to adjust the heat. I use an adjustable lamp stand for my basking light and it works very well for fine tuning the temps by varying the height of the bulb.
