Here's a recipe for anyone who wants to make their own cricket/roach food. I gotta tell you, they LOVE it, and it costs a lot less than buying pet store food like Flukers Cricket food and stuff.
Recipe :
1) Whiska's Kitten food ( very high in protein, and cheaper than mostly all the other cat food), i used about 1.5KG's worth it think.
2) 1 container of petstore cricket food (I used Fluker's High Calcium Cricket Diet)
3) 2 tablespoons of Vitamins ( Herptivite is what I used, use what ever you give your reptile )
4) 2 tablespoons Calcium dust (whatever you give your reptile)
I used a low-end coffee grinder to grind up the cat food which worked amazing, i gave up on trying to smash it, makes a huge mess. After the Cat food was turned into small, dust-like pieces i threw an entire container of Fluker's High Calcium Cricket Diet in there, along with the 2 tablespoons of Vitamins and Calcium, then i stirred it all together, After everything was added it made about 3/4 of a ice cream pail full. A hell of a lot more than you would get from a petstore , for around 20$. Not to bad in my opinion. \
Give it a try guys, the initial 20$ will save you probably 50$ or more in the long run. I've got about 300 crickets here and they just love it!
I no longer use crickets, but I have a friend who owns some dragons who would greatly appreciate this recipe. They usually buy Fluker's food, so I'll let them know about this. Thanks!
Yea I actually use it for Roaches and Crickets, both of which I own. A lot of Dubia Breeder's recommend high-protein cat food, I basically just found a good high protein cat food and added to it. Thanks.
