How does everybody keep their greens fresh? I can't seem to keep them fresh for anymore than a few days. Since I have to buy greens by the bunch I wind up throwing away food every couple of days because it's soggy and stinky. Is there a trick to keeping it fresh? I've tried storing it in ziplock bags and keeping them in my refrigerators crisper box but that doesn't seem to work either.

as soon as i get mine home, i rinse them off, wrap them in paper towel, and then put them in a big ziplock bag. i make sure to remove as much air as i can from the bag before i completely seal it and then it goes in the fridge. i've been able to keep mine fresh for a week or even more doing it this way.

I feed collard greens, and all i do is rip open the bag so the condensation can escape and throw it in the bottom of my fridge. It lasts well over a week this way. Ive had the same bag of greens in the fridge for about 2 weeks now and they are still not browning or soggy.

Thanks,

I don't really have a problem with the collards getting mushy they are tough, it's the dandelion greens and mustard greens that get soggy. I rinsed off the greens I just bought and dried them in paper towels. I made sure they were good and dry before putting them in a ziplock bag and then into the fridge so we'll see how well that works. If this doesn't work I'll try the open air method and see if that helps.

It's been a while since I had my Iguana but as I remember I didn't seem to have this problem. Perhaps its just because its a different fridge. This one may be a more humid environment or something.

I had good luck using these clear green as seen on TV "Original Always Fresh Containers". I just chop-up the greens every Sunday and mix them all together store it in the fridge and it stays good for the whole week.

I use mustard greens too. When I get home, I rinse them and pat them dry. Then, I cut the whole lot into edible size. I take a large plastic container with a lid and put a paper towel in the bottom...then I load up the greens..then I top it off with another paper towel and the lid. This stays good in my fridge for a week, sometimes more depending on how good they were when I purchased them. This is the best thing I tried.

Hey, that sounds like a good idea-- I'm going to give it a try! :)

I don't have that problem very often, though, because I got a huge green iguana to feed and few more other lizards that eat veggies and fruits. They go through the veggies faster than the fritters on the fat farm. [chuckle]

Currently trying not to stress over my anemic dragon....she is being treated, but I don't agree with her treatment plan and have been seeking out a second opinion from another vet. If anyone else has dealt with anemia, please let me know how it was resolved. I am losing sleep over this
Another post lol. My beardie does not like enclosures. Her tank is the kids room and she has created a nesting/bed spot in the corner. She will cuddle with my son but she know when the lights are out and the kids go to sleep, she literally goes to her bed like she is our 3rd baby. I love her. And to think, I never wanted a beardie lol
Please help. My beardie is my baby and I am worried she may be egg bound but I can't tell. She is over 2 yrs old and has never laid an egg. She has been swollen for two days and can't tell if she may be impacted or egg bound. Please help.
I'm still looking to adopt. I live near Homerville Georgia.
