I have just purchased a 4 to 5 month old bearded dragon. He was active the first day I brought him home pet store told me he would be okay without food until the next day. First day he was active and responsive however the second day he became very lethargic throughout the day and when i put crickets in tank he did not go after them and hasn't eaten. Rested against the glass all day. I have misted him and also put another juvenile in with him (who is still very active) on second day. What can I do? Is he sick? temps are good, substrate is paper towels. He did have a bowel movement the first day but nothing since. Pet store told me to leave him a lone for a couple of days, but I am really worried about him. Today is day 3 and he is still lethargic this morning.

Hi. We need a run down of the set up to help. Please be more specific. Also 2 beardies =2 separate enclosures. He is probably getting dominated by the other. You never house beardies together.

He is in a 30foot enclosure. Screen top. Temp in lounging area is about 100 and in cold area around 80. Substrate is paper towels. All lighting is from zoom med starter kit domed night light and heat lamp and rectangular UVA. Turn on UVA and heat lamp at 8am and sht down at 8pm and that's when night light goes on.

Lights ( day and night) set up at lounging side of tank and UVA light at other end perpendicular to but not at the domed lights)

Is that the info you need? I followed all instructions and watched a ton of you tube videos and read a lot about setting up the enclosure. 2nd bear die is getting her own enclosure in next few days. He was already lethargic when I put her in.

Thanks in advance.

it needs a repti sun 10.0 TUBE and you might have to force feed it look up on youtube how to force feed a bearded dragon and make sure you dust the food with calcium 5 days a week and vitamins 2 days a week so just force feed a little food and get the repti sun 10.0 tube hope he does beter

Thank you for the info. I think right now it's a repti sun 5 on the tank, however he continues to hide under a rock on the other side of the tank. I gave him a bath today because it seemed like his skin was wrinkly and wasn't springing back and I continue to mist - at least keeping him hydrated. Thanks about the info of force feeding. I will look it up and give it a shot.

Don't use the night light. It disturbs his sleep and beardies like to cool down at night. If your house gets below 65 then use a che(ceremic heat emitter). And yes get the repti sun tube 10.0 asap as the proper lighting effects their appetite and health.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
