well i just got a 1000 large from the bug pros. They are so cool!!i noticed some males and females with egg sacs sticking out.. is the sexing the same as dubia with their last shed you can tell male w/ wings and females not. i know to check their abdomen, but just from above can you tell the difference when they are young?
yes sexing is similiar to dubias once the roahes reach maturity with turks the males have wings and are lights in color not sure what to call that color, but the females are dark black and i dont believe you can tell the difference when they are young they all look the same to me, but someone might know how to sex them whgen they are young but not me.
yeah thats how all the ones i have are but i guess it depends on how big they are so some might be ready to molt for the last time and be adults, the darkered colored ones might just be females but you really never know you will have plenty of roaches in know time
hopefully i will have lots. is 93.4 a good solid temp for best breeding results?? i am going to buy another 1k next week.. and they have an eggcase every two weeks of 20 babies in each??
yes 93 degrees is a good temp i keep mine anywhere from 90-95, i do believe that the females lay about 2 egg sacs a month each egg sac can contain 20-30 babies but once you have many females you will loose count on how many egg sacs you will have since they will be everywhere and you will have tons of babies running around. i looked on bugs pros last week and they are not seeling right now because they were going through a management change hopefully they begin to sell again.
yea hope they grow up fast. since they are large and not extra large. just contact them by email and ask themif the can spare a 1000. and they probably will. thats what i did..
thanks its not like i need any more, ill try and put up some picks of the ones i have i just got rid of a lot i had way to many and i also have dubia colony going and i just order another 300 so hopefully my dubia colony gets going fast i already had it for about 2-3months and have lots of babies but i need to boost them up a little more.
here are pics of my turk colony i know my roach bin is pretty dirty ill probably clean it later today, but i no longer have any adults i gave them to my cousin bevause i did not want turks anymore but i changed my minds and decided to keep them this is what i was left with and all those egg sacs everywere, each time i got to give them water crystals and food i see more and more roaches, i also finish removing the egg crates so that you can see the roaches,
in the pics it seems that there is not that many roaches but when you are in person they are everwhere i must have some were near 3-4 thousand roaches and no adults but hopefully some will mature quickly and i will way more.
yeah those big black tic tac shaped are the egg sacs i have many in there, i got rid of the adults because i didnt really want the roaches because i had way too many for 1 dragon i had so i gave them away to my cousein since he had about 4 dragons and he would probably need them more than me i also gave him about 1k of nymphs but i kept some to sell them but i decided to keep the rest because i began to get more dragons and they loved them so i am up to 4 dragons myself and i have turks to feed until i get my dubias going.
i would say to wait a little bit until you start noticing more adults and egg sacs then i would feed off of them, but it depends on you if you want lots of roaches to feed all your dragons then i would wait about a month or two then begin to feed from them but their prices arent that bad you can restock if you need any more.
