Hi to all the beardie lovers! Stopping by to say hello a bit early.
We dont have one yet but soon. We have been reading and learning as much as we can before we start. We have started a garden with okra, collard greens and chives. Well that is the kids project cause I have a black thumb. Today we picked up a starter colony of dubia from a fellow dragon lover. She was wonderful and gave us lots of big females and lots of nymphs and just enough males. We are hoping to find our dragon at the show in Round Rock in May. Though we have talked to tons of breeders and may get one shipped if we dont find the right boy at the show. We are very excited to add to the zoo here... We already have 2 dogs and green man Simon the Eclectus parrot. I love this forum and cant wait to post pictures of the new guy once we find him.
Aw, that's awesome!! That's pretty much what I did as well. I researched a TON before getting my Bearded Dragon, Jayne. I first started researching in December and finally brought him home at the end of March. They are awesome pets! We also have a zoo here: 1 dog, 2 cats, 1 ball python and the beardie.
Good luck with your search and welcome to the board!!
We got him/her not certain on sex BUT we love him. We have decided on Toothless in namesake of the most AWESOME movie How to Train A Dragon. So with any further bla bla here here "he" is
I love the name Dexter! My favorite TV show. We have had toothless 1 week today. We got him from Jeff at Texas Dragon Lab. He is awesome and so easy to work with. Toothless loves his roaches and occasional cricket. Not really touching the greens yet, but is working on a shed. This is our first dragon. So much fun!
Jeff is a great guy and will pretty much do anything for his customers I wouldn't buy from anyone else... We got are beardie from him and she is so heathy and has doubled in size in 4 weeks .... 2 thumbs up for Jeffs customer service. heres is web address if you want great customer service also http://texasdragonlab.com/
So we have had Toothless for almost 3 weeks now. He is in a 20 gallon long, tile floor reptisun 10.0, plus heat lamp 109 on the hot side 85 to 70 on the cool side. He has light on just before 6 am and off at 9 pm. Eating around 40 plus small dubia a day and just now deciding to eat his collards. He gets liquid vits and calcium. BUT he wont loose his stress marks in the cage. He has a snow white belly while sleeping and looses most them in the bath or when being held. BUT not in his cage he has a fuzzy a branch and a hide not overly crowded. He has grown almost 2 inches in the 3 weeks.
So what is wrong in his home why the stress marks there?
I am certain we should of named this mule. He is stubborn as one for sure. He refuses any live food other than dubia. He is also a jumper... grrr But he just finished he second shed and my camera skills do not do him justice on color. I am ever so thankful of Jeff from Texas Dragon Lab for our new baby. He is now over 8inches
