Last year about this time, Junie started developing eggs and quit eating. I force fed her for 8 months! I had hoped that it was a one time only event, but she's quit eating again. I force fed her tonight, but I did notice that she must have shed recently - she had a piece of retained shed (that I removed) on a toe. I'm hoping that her lack of appetite was just due to the shed and she'll be ready to eat on her own again soon. If not, I'll syringe feed her, but honestly - she makes me insane! I love her and would do anything for her, but my preference would be not to have to force feed her for 8 months of the year, every year, for the next 20 years!!!

oh dear silly little June, I hope she starts eating again on her own soon
does she not know that she needs her food and plenty of nutrients while she's producing eggs :banghead: and that she is worrying her mummy by not eating

fortunately Yoshi doesn't do what June does, she seems to be hungry all the time when she's producing eggs, unfortunately I'm not sure of exactly how much I should let her eat as last year she put on a tad too much weight because we wanted to make sure she was getting plenty of nutrients into her system

Good luck with June i hope her appetite returns, she's health enough to be able to endure a little fasting so maybe leave off the force feeding but get in some of her favorite treats see if she starts of her own accord if not then back to to force feeding  sorry can't think of anything else, you must have tried all sorts last year tho i imagine

crossing my fingers and toes for you

Maybe, instead of force feeding, you can let her get real hungry, then she will eat is shes not mentally challenged :p

Not so much mentally challenged, but her brain is the size of a lentil. She's still not eating on her own. I drop worms in front of her, and she just looks at them like "Oh, that's nice." then steps on them as she walks away. I've started forcefeeding her twice a week again, and I've upped her calcium intake in hopes that she will lay her damn eggs quickly this time and not hold on to them for so long.

Like I always say, she's lucky she's so pretty... otherwise I might not put up with this crap. (j/k)

Oh no Miss June is up to no good again.I think she is bent on driving you crazy.Maybe use some liquid calcium instead of powder? It will absorb quicker and hopefull speed up the progression of the eggs.

Thanks Vicky, that's a good idea. I have some liquid calcium for Cam - I'll just mix a drop or two into June's slurry. She's going to lay those eggs if it kills me!!!

No, unfortunately. Her belly is huge, so I'm sure she's got eggs in there. She has no appetite at all and is a real little bear during feeding time. She even bit me the other day! She actually broke one layer of skin too. It didn't hurt but I made a big show of it so she would feel better. "Oh June, please don't kill me! Save me!"

Took him forever to shed this time

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
