Is this tail rot?

Beardie name(s)
Baby Butterfinger Lord of Roaches
We just adopted our beardie (about 2.5 to 3 months old) 10 days ago. The tip of their tail is a little bit darker and has a couple indentations, so I'm worried it might be tail rot.

Is this normal? Or is this something we should be concerned about?

Butterfinger's activity level seems normal. They're VERY excited about any insects, and periodically move around the terrarium between the hammock, basking spot, cool side, etc. They're not eating many veggies but have had some collard greens and the occasional blueberry nibble.

Our new pet vet appointment is on July 15th (to give Butterfinger time to settle in before a potentially stressful vet visit). I can try to get an earlier one if needed, but I don't want to stress Butterfinger out more if it's nothing.

Its more than likely going into shed-- they turn different colors- this is what to look for w/ tail rot
Causes of tail rot are:
1. Injuries/trauma - caused by falls, or by any other bearded dragon.

2. Malnourished - make sure he has a balanced diet and he gets the nourishment he needs

How to identify tail rot:

1. Dried out - Decaying tail won't be able to retain moisture, check if it's dried out completely.

2. Very thin, brittle - Decaying tail won't be able to process nourishment, causing it to become more thin and brittle.
What to do after finding out it has a tail rot:
1. Go to a vet - very recommended

T Ask yourself these questions:
Was the tail recently injured?
Was a part of the tail open (eg wound/scrape/cut)
Was flesh exposed?
Is the tail constantly dark? or does the darkness ever go away (eg when in the tank, different environments)
If you didn't answer yes to basically all of those questions, it's not tail rot.
Tail rot is extremely rare. It's an infection of the flesh, from a wound or injury to the tail.
Tail rot is really kind of just a fancy name for an infected wound, one of which is affecting the tail.ail Rot

No definitely not. Most dragon's tales are a bit darker or a bit faded looking.
What you are looking for is going to be a dark crinkled fry look, or like the end of a cigarette when someone doesn't knock off the ashes.

Ah okay, thank you!!

I'm used to geckos that go very pale right before a shed. Definitely an overly worried first-time beardie mom then! :)

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
